I will try to keep this updated with pictures and video. - Aric

8/28/05:
Ok, so it has been a while since I updated my site and I apologize for that. So we missed out on some rains during the pollination part of the season and that has hurt the corn yields pretty hard. We have figured that we have lost half of the corn crop and the beans need some more rain soon. Latly we have been working on some equipment getting it ready for the harvest. We got 2 new corn heads and a used 2388 with duals for this season also. My digital camera went bad so I will get pictures as soon as possible. I also will be staring a new blog for the harvest since it is just around the corner.
6/26/05:
Late yesterday afternoon we got 3 inches of rain, small hail, and about 85 mph winds. It twisted up the corn pretty bad and flatened it in places. We really needed the 3 inches of rain, here are some pictures of the corn damage.

Well, the soybeans were wraped up last night at 12:30 a.m. We were on a big push to get them done because of the storms that came about an hour and half after he finished. There has been a good 2 inches of rain and more to come.
5/6/05:
The soybean planting has gone great so far. We have about 600 acres left and then we'll be done unless if we have to replant anything. Rain is in the forcast for the next few days, but that don't mean it will happen.
4/26/05:
The corn planting was completed Monday, just a couple hours before a rain. The weather here looks like a cold and wet rest of the week. We will hold off for about a week on the beans just incase of a frost.

Today was the first big day of planting corn. The planter is proceeded by the 9180 and the Great Plains, then following the planter is the sprayer. Rain is in the forcast for most of next week.

4/2/05:
Well, today was a successful day for tillage, spraying and waterway work. A major waterway needed some work so the guys have been working on that for the last couple days. My Uncle and I got the dirt thrower out and did a little work with that for a while. The sprayer and the 9180 were going by 8:30 a.m. and didn't stop all day. I switched my cousin in the 9180 over the lunch and dinner hours. After dark was kind of disappointing because we have never ran the Great Plains after dark so none of the lights were set for the width plus it was really dusty.

3/28/05:
Today we officially started the field work. In the morning we got the Great Plains Discovator set and used it to incorperate the Treflan beheind the sprayer. We also got the 8950 and the Anhydrous toolbar going after lunch. Tomorrow looks like the Anhydrous is the only thing that will probably work. The wind is going to blow which puts the sprayer out, and it is supposed to start raining later in the afternoon.

3/19/05:
Well, to start off the Spring of 2005 one day early, we started the process of tearing down the other half of our hog building. The process involved an excavator, bulldozer and a backhoe. We took 2 trusses from the structure at a time and then pushed them into the fire. After the building is down we are going to break the concrete up over the pit and bury it.
